Abstract. Deep-sea benthic foraminiferal faunas underwent severe extinction during the Paleocene–Eocene thermal maximum (PETM), but less is known about neritic environments. Through taxonomical analysis we document for the first time that recovery of neritic benthic assemblages after the PETM followed a similar pattern in shelf regions in New Jersey (USA) and Egypt.
