The Cretaceous spore Stoverisporites and its taxonomy and stratigraphy

Abstract. The Cretaceous palynomorph commonly designated Kuylisporites lunaris is correctly identified taxonomically as Stoverisporites lunaris, while Kuylisporties should apply to “Hemitelia type” spores. Stoverisporites lunaris is a useful stratigraphic indicator of Aptian – Albian sediments in the Canadian Arctic.
